These windows and doors are built in mass quantities, to generalized specifications, with minimal attention to quality standards or engineering design. In addition, the warranties are typically very limited, if you can even find someone willing to service them… and that is the reason why they are so cheap.

Builder grade/contractor grade windows are made for the Builder/Contractor who is looking for something they can buy off the shelf, in bulk, without requiring a relationship with the actual manufacturer. Did you know that in Kentucky the Builder is only liable for the windows & doors for one (1) year on new construction? But no two houses are identical, and trying to fit an "off the shelf" window or door into your home is like trying to fit the proverbial square peg into a round hole.

That's why you can't buy windows or doors off a shelf or from someone who doesn’t have your best interest at heart. The pennies you think you are saving today will cost you a fortune in aggravation, energy and money in the future when you have to replace them again because they failed prematurely.
